Some conversations are easier to have when you're surrounded by people who understand.
June brought opportunities to talk openly about living with digestive diseases, navigating ostomies, and finding confidence in everyday life.
From community events to the work happening behind the scenes, we continued making practical resources and education more accessible to the people who need them.
Here's what June looked like at Connecting Pieces.
π TAKE STEPS | CONFIDENCE BEYOND THE BAG
June 6, 2026
For the second year, Connecting Pieces brought our Ostomy Supply Closet and Confidence Corner to the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation's Take Steps event.
Throughout the day, we shared practical resources, challenged common misconceptions about ostomies, and offered confidence and styling tips for navigating everyday life.
Connecting Pieces Founder and President Keyla Caba also moderated an ostomy panel, bringing conversations about life with an ostomy into the spotlight.
From clothing choices and personal confidence to the realities of living with an ostomy, the event created opportunities for honest questions and shared experiences.
Attendees also learned more about Connecting Pieces, our Ostomy Supply Closet, and the resources available to patients and families beyond the event.
Because living with an ostomy shouldn't mean putting your personal style, confidence, or individuality aside.
π¨ HEALING ARTS with Lisa
June 30, 2026
In partnership with Avery's Hope our Healing Arts programming continued with opportunities for participants to explore creativity and personal expression.
These workshops offer a different kind of wellness experience, where there is no expectation to be an artist or create something perfect.

Through creativity and reflection, participants explored what it means to hold onto hope, gratitude, and growth. Just days later, those same themes continued beyond the virtual space and into the community.
π¦ BEHIND THE SUPPLY CLOSET
Our Ostomy Supply Closet remains an important part of Connecting Pieces' work.
From reviewing patient requests to organizing donated supplies, each step helps us respond to individuals experiencing gaps in access to essential ostomy products.
June also brought preparations for our emergency ostomy kits, designed to provide practical supplies when patients face unexpected needs in Emergency Rooms.
Rather than focusing only on the number of supplies distributed, we want to recognize the people behind every request and the importance of having access to products that fit their needs.
